The PBK Richmond Association invites our new and old members and old for a fun ghost tour in Colonial Williamsburg (official tour by CW Foundation) on October 18th, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. During this spooky fall season, don’t we all want to learn more about our nation’s founding families and their stories? After the ghost tour, we will gather at Kilwin’s to socialize with fellow Phi Betes and enjoy ice cream!
Note: Ghost tour tickets are included in your registration, however you would be responsible for sweet treats at Kilwin’s (~$8 per person).

250th Anniversary

On December 5, 2025, we will kick off PBK’s 250th anniversary event in Williamsburg. In lieu of hosting our annual dinner in Wren (under heavy renovation), please join us and the national organization at Glenn Close Theater at Phi Beta Kappa Hall on William & Mary’s campus for a keynote event at 4pm. Afterwards, we will go to Muscarelle Museum for a reception from 5:30-7pm. Afterwards, please enjoy the Grand Illumination fireworks show in Colonial Williamsburg. We will provide you with more details as we work with the national organization on this event.

The national website. pbk.org, also provides many resources, including an events calendar. Since you are invited to all PBK events, and many are virtual, there are a number of interesting offerings you may enjoy.

Virginia Scholars Series was held on Sunday, May 18th at the Richmond SPCA on canine communication.
Presented by: Sarah Babcock, CTC, CPDT-KSA, CBCC-KA, CDBC, Chief of Education and Training and member of the Richmond Association of Phi Beta Kappa.
Sarah joined the staff of the Richmond SPCA in 2001, soon after graduating valedictorian and with honors from Jean Donaldson’s Academy for Dog Trainers at the San Francisco SPCA. Her earlier career at IBM followed her graduation from Sweet Briar College with a bachelor’s degree in math and economics. Sarah’s career change was inspired by Crosby, a dog she found, adopted and began training, which led her to pursue additional education in animal behavior at the University of Richmond where she completed three years of graduate work in psychology and neuroscience.
The dogs who share Sarah’s home have competed in canine agility, trained in tricks, done commercial work for local and national brands, appeared on the cover of Bark magazine, and visited local retirement communities as part of the Richmond SPCA’s Paws for Health® Program. Her Henrico County farm is also home to cats, chickens and miniature horses, all of whom have benefited from some degree of clicker training.
